How to choose an ergonomic pillow

Use this order: sleeping position, approximate loft, firmness preference, adjustability, then material and special features.

1. Start with position

Side sleeping often creates a larger head-to-mattress gap than back or stomach sleeping.

2. Estimate loft

Measure a pillow you already tolerate well. That gives you a personal baseline.

3. Decide fixed versus adjustable

Molded contours are simple and consistent. Adjustable-fill pillows are easier to tune if you are uncertain.

4. Choose firmness and material

Dense memory foam holds shape differently from shredded foam, latex, fiber or down alternatives.

5. Treat cooling and pain claims cautiously

Materials can affect heat and feel, but individual comfort varies. A pillow is not a treatment for medical conditions.

Next: estimate pillow height or compare Derila Ergo.
